I don't know if anybody has pointed this out yet, but this seems to fit in the category of "remarkable".
Against Luke Hochevar, players batting 3rd in the lineup are hitting .269/.338/.463. cleanup hitters are .328/.406/.459. Not bad considering same batters against Roy Holladay are hitting .327/.366/.475 from #3 spot and cleanup hitters are batting .310/.336/.420.
But here's the thing. #9 hitters against Luke Hochevar are hitting .377/.393/.698 for an OPS of 1.091. That means #9 hitters all of a sudden turn into basically "MVP" Joe Mauer when they face Luke Hochevar.
